FIMbox
FIMbox is a modular open-source testbed for Flood Inundation Mapping. It is designed to make FIM workflows more configurable, reproducible, and easier to compare across datasets, model versions, and evaluation methods.
What It Does
- Organizes FIM experiments into reusable modules.
- Supports consistent configuration and documentation.
- Provides a bridge between model generation, benchmarks, and evaluation.
- Advances research-to-operations (R2O) pathways for NOAA/CIROH by enabling cross-institutional collaboration on standardized FIM pipelines.
Why It Matters
Flood-mapping workflows can become difficult to reproduce when data, scripts, parameters, and evaluation routines are scattered. FIMbox helps package that workflow into a clearer project structure. Its configurable simulation pipelines and standardized APIs make it practical for teams at different institutions to compare results and share components without rebuilding workflows from scratch.
